It appears that more and more people are becoming vegan or at least trying to reduce their meat intake. Being completely honest, I like my meat, especially a tasty Sunday roast. However, I have reduced the amount of meat that we eat in our house. Our meals for the week have a good mix of fish, vegetarian and even vegan dishes. And I’d say, on average we only have meat a couple of times a week.
Now you know I love cooking. So, I’ve enjoyed the challenge of cooking a wider variety of dishes. Plus, I’ve invested in a couple of fab cookbooks. I highly recommend The Green Roasting Tin by Rukmini Iyer.
I remember going away with the school to France, in my early teens. One of my friends was vegetarian and whilst we were enjoying some tasty French cuisine she was either served salad or omelette. This was about thirty years ago. Not exactly inspiring.

As far as I’m concerned, we only get one life. Not only do we get just one. But it’s pretty short. Sorry to break it to you. So, I’m trying to make it count.
Now, it’s not like I woke up one morning and decided this. It’s taken a little while to get to this point. Plus, it takes practice. Continuous practice. And I’m still practicing. After all, I’m a regular individual. Like you, I have low moments. Times when I miss an opportunity. The point is I’m trying my best and that’s what counts.
So what does ‘living my best life’ look like?

Do you ever just have one of those days when you’re just feeling grumpy? There doesn’t seem to be a reason for it. You just feel grumpy. It’s a case of ‘getting up on the wrong side of the bed’. The problem is being grumpy really isn’t any good for us. Both emotionally and physically. And that’s why we need something that can help to change how we feel. Like smiling.

I knew that having children would change my body but I really had no idea what that meant. My main issue with my body, when I was first pregnant, was whether I’d be able to lose the baby weight once I’d had my baby. My actual concern should have been my pelvic floor.

When I became a mum I automatically put myself at the bottom of the list. My priorities changed. The needs of my children came first followed by hubby. It wasn’t a conscious decision. It was automatic. I suppose my need to look after others was stronger than the need to look after myself.

How quickly do you lose your identity when you become a mum? Is it immediately. Is it when you start going to mummy groups? Is it when your child starts school?
To me, it feels like immediately.
