What if you just tried to be better than you were yesterday?

How would it feel to go to bed with a smile on your face knowing that you had the best day you could have?

Obviously, it would feel great.

You can make that happen.

Every night before you go to bed, I want you to look at yourself in the mirror and acknowledge that you did the best you could today. You also need to know that your best will differ every day depending on how you feel when you wake up and what you decide in the moment before you get out of bed

The power is in your hands.

We all have bad days. Yes, I have bad days. The difference between having a bad day and having a good day is how you respond.

You get to decide.

Just because you felt that yesterday was a bad day doesn’t mean that today needs to be the same.

You could decide that today is going to be better than yesterday. You could accept that how today turns out is up to you. You could decide that today is going to be a great day.

Every morning when you wake up is another opportunity for you to have an amazing day.

Yes, it is that simple.

What you’re thinking before you get out of bed has the power to ensure that it is an amazing day. How you continue to think throughout the day has the power to ensure that your day continues to be a great day. How you’re thinking before you go to bed has the power to make tomorrow even better.

It really is quite logical. So how do you get there?

What did yesterday teach me?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, life is a learning journey. Every day is an opportunity to learn something, although it might not be new. I hold my hands up and know that there have been occasions when I’ve relearnt something that I already knew! It could be about ourselves, other people, a situation or the external world.

I believe that if we don’t learn the lessons then we will continue to have similar experiences until we do.

So take the opportunity to learn from yesterday so you can apply it today.

Let it go

If we hold onto what doesn’t serve us, then life will feel more difficult than it has to. The only person you are hurting by holding onto yesterday is yourself. So forgive, let go and move on.

What’s your intent?

Start to live more purposefully by deciding what your intent is for the day. How do you intend to be? What do you intend to do? By starting your day in the right way, you are more likely to end it how you expected it to.

How can I make things go right?

We spend a lot of energy focusing on making sure things don’t go wrong. However, how would life be if you focused on making things go right? This automatically puts you in a positive frame of mind which means you will see the world differently. You will feel more motivated to make this a better day. 

Do 1 thing for you

Remember it’s your life and so you are the most important person in it. Commit to doing one thing for yourself every day. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, just something that is for you. It doesn’t have to cost anything and it could be for just 5 minutes. You decide.

We can let life happen to us or we can choose to make life what we want it to be. It is your choice. You can choose to see the silver lining. You can choose what’s best for you. You can make today a better day.
