I accept me flaws and all

Aug 18, 2021 | Wellness

When you look in the mirror do you like who you see looking back? It can be so easy to look at that person and see all the things that you don’t like.

It might be what you physically look like. The shape of your eyebrows. The size of your ears. Or the way your hair falls.

It might be deeper than that. It could be in the way you sometimes behave. Or the things you might say. Or how you feel about certain things.

Or it might be held in the way you talk to yourself!

However, what would happen if you learned to love the things you don’t like? What would happen if you fully embraced the things you don’t like? What if you could see the positives in what you see as flaws?

You would see how unique you are. You would see how amazing you are. You would see all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that make you who you really are. You would see the whole you.

It’s taken me a long time to fully embrace my flaws. And to be honest, it’s a daily practice. But it’s been a really important journey for me, which all started with me saying yes to a mindset coach.

You see I want to be the best I can be and having flaws just felt like they were stopping me from getting to where I wanted to go. But, the truth is my flaws are a part of what makes me me.

Can you imagine a world in which we were all flawless? Oh my goodness, how dull that would be and even a little scary!

So I’m learning to love my flaws. I’m learning to be okay with not being okay. I’m learning to be 100% me.

You see, you’re not broken and you don’t need fixing. You just need to embrace who you are, flaws and all.

Here are 5 tips to help you love who you are, flaws and all.

Reconnect

We are constantly changing and it’s easy to not recognise who we have become. So take the time to reconnect with who you really are. What do you like? What makes you laugh? What are you about?

Values

It starts with understanding what your values are. Knowing what values are important to you. Knowing your values helps you to make decisions and take action. When we make a decision or take action that is in alignment with our values, then life flows in the right way for us. Life becomes easy.

Do things that make you laugh and smile

Life is about having fun. Life is about being able to laugh at yourself and with yourself. So do things that put a smile on your face. Allow yourself to be carefree. If you don’t know what that is then reflect on your childhood for a clue. If that doesn’t help then ask a child. They may not know the answer but hearing their opinion will make you smile.

Gratitude

Write a list of ten things you are grateful for. This will show you what is important to you. This will remind you of what is important to you. Then it’s up to you to ensure you have more of it in your life.

Me-time

You are the lead actor in your life so if you’re not giving yourself some time and space to just be then you’ve demoted yourself to a supporting role. Is that what you want? It’s about giving yourself the time to accept who you are. Because you are unique, you are enough and you’re worth it.

And so, if you need it, I’m giving you permission to accept all of you, flaws and all. I invest in myself so why wouldn’t you.

What will it take for you to accept all of you flaws and all?
