Why are you sitting in the audience?

Apr 28, 2021

I believe that everyone should be the star of their life. After all, it is your life and so you should be upfront and centre stage. However, so many of us insist on sitting in the audience. Watching what is going on. Rather than grabbing life with both hands and making it what we want it to be.

So why do you insist on sitting in the audience?

Is it that you’re more comfortable being in the audience?

Does it feel safe?

Do you think that’s where you should be?

Have you decided it’s too late to do anything else?

Whatever it may be, the truth is, the stage is yours and waiting for you. The truth is the only person that can get you on the stage, in your life, is you.

So the real question is, what are you really waiting for?

When it comes to your life, it is really all about you. So why have you given that responsibility to someone else? Because by sitting in the audience, that’s what you’re doing. And more importantly, why? Why would you not want to be the one who determines what happens in your life?

Let’s look at it in a different way.

If you were to fast forward your life to when you’re taking your last breath, what do you want to remember?

Is it a life full of laughs and dreams fulfilled? Or is it one full of regrets?

You decide.

Yes, the choice is yours.

For me, it’s very simple, the lead role is yours. No need to audition. However, it’s your choice whether you commit to being the star or not and simply watching life happen. Accepting whatever life throws at you. Allowing yourself to just get swept along by what will be will be.

However, I invite you to ask yourself, is this what you really want? Are you happy with how things are? Are you happy, making sure others are happy without wanting the same for yourself?

If you answered no, then I would like to help. I want you to have the confidence to be the star and determine what your life looks like now instead of waiting until the kids have left home.

But where to start?

Here are my top 5 tips

Understand why you’re in the audience

There will be a reason why you are happier sitting in the audience. So the first challenge is to know why? You can do this by basically asking yourself why over and over again until you find out the real why. A great method for doing this is to write it down or journal.

How can you change this?

Then the real work starts. Deciding what you’re going to do to change. Whether this is to undo some deep-rooted beliefs or change habits that are not serving you.

What would it take?

The next step is to get you onto the stage. But what would it take? What actions do you need to take to get you moving? Is it as simple as figuring out what you want?

possible, think

Who can help?

It’s not always easy to get started so enlist the help of people you trust to guide you and hold you accountable. Although I encourage my clients to develop an inner cheerleader, having others also be your cheerleader makes it a lot easier.

When will you start?

Starting is the hardest part and by taking small steps anything is possible. So make a commitment to yourself by starting today and promising that you will not give up. When you fall over, you will get up, learn and then keeping going. When something positive happens you will celebrate and bottle that feeling forever.

You see, whether you believe you only have one life or you have many, it’s yours and it is up to you to make it what you want it to be. That is your responsibility.

Are you ready to take on the starring role?
