There’s no such thing as good luck
My husband is fed up with me correcting him when he says we’re lucky. As far as I’m concerned, it’s got nothing to do with luck. Worse than that, saying we’re lucky, for me, totally disregards our efforts that have got us to where we are today. That’s why I get really frustrated when I hear people talking about how lucky they are or how lucky someone else is.
The truth is, people are not ‘lucky’. It’s not about chance. It’s about having the drive to make things happen. It not about waiting for someone to wave a magic wand. It’s not about waiting to be in the right place at the right time. It’s not about waiting for someone else to make your dreams come true.
It’s easy to sit back and just let life happen. It takes no effort. You don’t have to think. When it all goes wrong you can blame someone else.
The thing is, we are all responsible for the actions we take. Or in this case don’t take. By doing nothing, you’ve still made a decision. Whether you agree or not, you’ve still decided to do nothing. Therefore whatever happens next is a consequence of you deciding to do nothing. So you can’t blame someone else.
That’s why I say, there’s no such thing as luck. It’s all about attitude. It’s all about how we see life. It’s all about perspective.
Think of it this way, how would you feel if someone saw your progress as you being lucky? Wouldn’t that devalue your hard work? Similarly, doesn’t saying someone’s unlucky make their inaction more legitimate?
If you want things to be different stop waiting for good luck to come your way and go make it happen.
So if it’s not luck, what is it?
Positive attitude
This may seem simple but it’s true. Being positive. Having a positive outlook on life. Looking for the positive. It makes such a difference and is so powerful in influencing the results we get.
If you sit in a negative space then all you will see is the negative.
However, if you choose to sit in the positive you will be amazed at what happens. You’ll see opportunities coming your way. You’ll be able to move forward with ease. Everything will seem a lot clearer.
Inner cheerleader
Before you look to the outside for help, start on the inside. Nurture your inner cheerleader, which takes continual practice. And just like a muscle, the more we practice and train ourselves the easier this will be.
It’s about knowing you can. Then believing you can. Then taking action to show that you can.
Having direction
Knowing what you want and what you need. You may think you don’t know. But let me tell you, you do. We all do. It’s just about letting it out.
Once you realise what it is, this is what will stop you from just going around in circles.
Taking action
Starting is the most difficult part. So it’s about taking things one step at a time. It’s all about taking that first step, no matter the size otherwise you’ll just stay stuck.
Having a Tribe
Having people around you who are your supporters. It’s not about surrounding yourself with the ‘yes’ crowd. It’s about surrounding yourself with individuals who genuinely want you to succeed and will be honest with you.
So it’s got nothing to do with luck. It’s about you. The decisions you make and the actions you take.
